Our staff accepts referrals from the Department of Children and Family Services to help families who are victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse and neglect, and emotional abuse.
We also accept referrals from school districts to help at-risk youth who are experiencing social, emotional, and behavioral problems which effect school performance.
Mental health therapy, parenting and life-skills development, and emotional support are provided to families. Referrals to clinical and community services are also provided to at-risk youth and family members.
The goal of the treatment is to provide services to assure child safety while building healthy family and school relationships.
Family Centered Services
Family Centered Services (FCS) is an advocate and mediator for at-risk youth who are experiencing social, emotional, and/or behavioral problems which effect school performance, for example, truancy, suspension, or expulsion. Intervention services may include mentoring, advocacy, parenting education and support, case management, assessments and screenings, child and family teams, linkage and referrals, and educational services.
Goals of FCS
- Keep high-risk youth in school
- Meet and work with the school to best serve the client
- Assist parents in parenting issues
- Mentor, advocate, and mediate with and for the client
- Assess and screen for high-risk factors
- Link/refer to clinical and community services
- Use of child and family support teams
Where can I find Services?
Family Centered Services (FCS) is a voluntary program of Assault & Abuse Services
of Stephenson County offered free of charge to families in Stephenson County.
How long will FCS work with the client and what is the cost?
Time will vary on the need. Most involvement will range from 6 months to one year. The service is free.
How does FCS get its clients?
Through community referrals (DCFS, School, etc.) made to AASSC at 815-232-7200. The worker will then contact the client within 24 business hours to arrange a meeting if possible.
